A smile for your Friday | Snellville baby photography

Happy Friday, friends!

Here’s a smile to brighten your day!

There’s an old saying that newborns don’t smile. As a newborn photographer with over 16 years of experience I beg to differ. You can even predict the moment that sleepy grin will appear with a good amount of accuracy. Once baby is fed, changed and swaddled his eyes will start shifting back and forth. These are those moments just before sleep sets in. I wait patiently – watching through my lens for the smile to appear. And while it’s not always the case, I’m often rewarded for my patience. Moms and dads understandably call these images their favorites. They often end up being printed as a beautiful heirloom wall portrait or hold prominent places in baby’s storybook.

And while there’s always a place for professional portraits of your baby as she grows, I encourage parents to capture as many sweet moments of their own as they are able. You will never look back and wish you’d had taken fewer pictures of your baby! I guarantee you’ll look back and wish you’d taken just a few more. So consider this post a tip for capturing your own baby’s smiles – even if it’s just a quick photo with your phone. You will be surprised how many smiles you’ll capture while baby is drifting off to dreamland.

Sometimes I get really lucky and baby smiles exactly at the right moment to get the perfect sibling shot!

If you would like to reserve a newborn session please contact me before baby arrives – ideally by your 37th week. This will ensure a spot is reserved for your little one. Newborns should be photographed within the first two weeks of arrival for the very best results. I can’t wait to hear from you~
